Chong Lim is one of Australia’s most accomplished musical directors, composers, producers and arrangers, with more than four decades of experience across major concerts, television, theatre, international ceremonies and large-scale live events.
Member of the Order of Australia (AM) — appointed in 2018 for significant service to the performing arts as a musician, composer, producer and musical director.
Olympic and international ceremonies — Composer and Music Producer for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies, with further major work for the Melbourne Commonwealth Games, Doha Asian Games, AFC Asian Cup and Cricket World Cup.
Major theatrical productions — Musical Director for Grease: The Arena Spectacular, Founding Musical Supervisor for Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage and composer/musical director for large-scale productions including Bali Agung and Jakarta Aquarium.
Long-standing artist collaborations — Musical Director, producer and performer with John Farnham and Olivia Newton-John, alongside work with Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams, Tina Arena and numerous international artists.
Extensive television experience — Musical Director and Composer for 15 consecutive seasons of Dancing with the Stars, as well as the TV Week Logie Awards, ARIA Music Awards and other major television productions.
International Asia-Pacific experience — has composed and directed music for major projects across Indonesia, Malaysia and Qatar, combining music with visual theatre, puppetry, cultural performance and large-scale spectacle.
